Phil Cohen at Radio Bean

It had been a few years since I’d been to a show at Radio Bean, so my expectation of walking into a tiny space was met with the excitement of being greeted by a completely transformed spot. Gone is ¡Duino! (Duende) (and seemingly, it’s replacement pandemic focused replacement) and instead, finally, much expanded space for Radio Bean including a large stage and new sound setup

Admittedly, other than growing up in the same town, the only reason I know about Phil Cohen is that my older brother recorded music for him in high school – being a part of my childhood doesn’t change that I’ve always admired his voice and music

For Phil, a 6PM on a Thursday seemed to be a perfect time slot with a completely packed room hanging on his every word – well deserved for a fantastic performance. As I’m learning more and more, hanging out in the back and trying to not get in the way while taking photos is my style – so my trusty 85mm manual prime lens came in handy for grabbing some shots of Phil doing his thing while enjoying the great music
